Bend the rules, bend the materials, but don't bend craftsmanship.

Much of my work comes out in curves: not just the plantings and landforms, but also in brick, stone and wood. The right design comes to nothing without the best in materials and craftsmanship. Only the best will survive: specially selected materials like bluestone and schist steps, water-struck brick patio, and white cedar fencing. Each design detail expresses its own kind of bending of the rules, and sometimes blending of schools as well. For example: the lines of the traditional cottage garden wooden gate also evoke an oriental moon gate. In every detail your domain should be a place of repose, perhaps a work of art.
