This dreamy poetic landscape owes much to the fine art of earth sculpture. Hard to believe that the site was originally wooded, wet in the lower ground, ledge on the higher ground. Bold contours of unearthed granite ledge contrast with the soft surfaces of lawn that meet the spring-fed pond. The island adds incomparable meaning to the whole, and adds depth and distance as well. The eye gravitates there, and the mind is freed. The design has captured the genius of the place. Soil excavated from the pond forms a high berm densely planted with mature specimen ornamental trees and shrubs for complete privacy along the heavily traveled road in northeastern Massachusetts.
